Se han preparado difosfinas arilicas, alquilicas de distinto impedimento esterico y difosfitos para evaluar las diferencias y similitudes de los nuevos ligandos sintetizados. Se ha procedido a realizar la degradacion parcial de los clusters closo de tales especies para aislar las correspondientes nidocarboranildifisfinas anionicas, sin precedentes bibliograficos, poniendo a punto dos nuevos metodos degradativos: el primero se basa en la complejacion en etanol de los closoligandos con fosfinas y sales de iones metalicos d10 y no d10; el segundo consiste en realizar la reaccion degradativa con piperidina en exceso y etanol o tolueno como disolvente.  ambos metodos son eficaces y han permitido la obtencion de los nuevos ligandos que difieren de las difosfinas convencionales en su caracter anionico y en la disposicion eclipsada de los enlaces c-p, en contraste con la neutralidad y disposicion gauche mas relajada de los enlaces c-p de las difosfinas habituales. El patron de coordinacion observado ha sido siempre cis quelato, o puente a dos metales, participando unicamente en casos excepcionales el cluster carborano en la coordinacion.
