Paralelamente, tambi\u00e9n se han determinado los efectos citot\u00f3xicos. Los resultados de este estudio indican que los \u00e1cidos grasos que se pueden encontrar en la dieta son capaces de regular in vitro la expresi\u00f3n del receptor cd 36 tanto en macr\u00f3fagos thp-1 como en hmdm, por mecanismos que implican un aumento de los niveles de rnam de este gen.  de esta manera los \u00e1cidos grasos pueden influir en diferentes procesos que participan en la arteriosclerosis. De los resultados de este trabajo tambi\u00e9n se deduce que los \u00e1cidos grasos insaturados (agi) (oleico, linoleico, aa, epa ydha) a concentraciones fisiol\u00f3gicas producen un aumento m\u00e1s grande en la expresi\u00f3n del cd 36 que los \u00e1cidos grasos saturados (ags) (l\u00e1urico, mir\u00edstico, palm\u00edtico, y este\u00e1rico).  entre los agi, los efectos sobre la expresi\u00f3n del cd36 aumentan con el grado de insaturaci\u00f3n.As\u00ed los \u00e1cidos grasos polinsaturados agpi de la familia 3 (epa y dha) son los que m\u00e1 aumentan la expresi\u00f3n del cd36. En relaci\u00f3n a los productos derivados de la oxidaci\u00f3n de los agi, los aldhidos saturados (hexanal y malondialdhido) tambi\u00e9n aumentan significativamente los niveles del rnam del receptor cd36, mientras que los insaturados (2,4-decadienal y 4-hidroxinonenal) la disminuyen. La dgz tambi\u00e9n aumenta la expresi\u00f3n del cd36 y produce efectos aditivos cuando se incuba en combinaci\u00f3n de diferentes \u00e1cidos grasos. En cuanto a la citotoxicidad, no hay diferencias entre los diferentes \u00e1cidos grasos, mientras que para los aldhidos, los insaturados presentan una citotoxicidad mucho m\u00e1s elevada que la de
