Los marcadores filogen\u00e9ticos que se han usado han sido el gen mitocondrial para la subunidad ii de la citocromo oxidasa (685 pb), un fragmento del gen para el adnr 16s mitocondrial (510-514 pb) y secuencias completas desl espaciador transcrito interno 2 de los genes ribosomales nucleares (-522 bp). Se ha analizado la congruencia entre las se\u00f1ales filogen\u00e9ticas de los tres marcadores y se ha utilizado el criterio de evidencia total, combinando toda la informaci\u00f3n filogen\u00e9tica disponible, par aobtener la hip\u00f3tesis evolutiva m\u00e1s robusta para el g\u00e9nero timarcha. esta filogenia combinada se discute en el contexto de la sistem\u00e1tica tradicional del g\u00e9nero y se usa para analizar la evoluci\u00f3n cariot\u00edpica y la de la selcci\u00f3ntr\u00f3fica, as\u00ed como para inerpretaciones biogeogr\u00e1ficas del g\u00e9nero. Tambi\u00e9n se han estimado las tasas de evoluci\u00f3n absolutas de los marcadores a partir de especies vicariantes y se discute su relaci\u00f3n la hip\u00f3teis del reloj molecular. las secuencias de los tres marcadors se han obtenido a partir del mismo indiviudo de cada localidad muestreada, lo cual ha permitido estimar sus tasas de evoluci\u00f3n relativas.  el segundo objetivo fundamental de la tesis fue el esclarecimiento de los mecanismos y procesos de especiaci\u00f3n en timarcha. Para ello la metodolog\u00eda utilizada ha sido el an\u00e1lisis clad\u00edstico anidado, que se ha aplicado en un estudio filogegr\u00e1fico de un complejo de especies de timarcha en el norte de la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica, el denomiado complejo t. Goettingensis. Este estudio ha demostrado la elevada estructuraci\u00f3n geofr\u00e1fica de las poblaciones del complejo debida, en generql, a factores hist\u00f3ricos como expansiones de corteo alcance de las poblaciones.
