Esta tesis tiene como objetivo demostrar la contribuci\u00f3n de una t\u00e9cnica conocida como polarimetr\u00eda a dicha aplicaci\u00f3n cuando se emplean sensores activos de microondas o radares.  el trabajo desarrollado se ha basado fundamentalmente en medidas realizadas en condiciones de laboratorio,utilizando de ma\u00edz, arroz y pinos. Los experimentos fueron elevados a cabo en el \u00abeuropean microwave signature laboratoy\u00bb, situado en el \u00abjoint research centre\u00bb de la comisi\u00f3n europea en ispra (italia).  la tesis consta de dos partes fundamentales:  a- aplicaci\u00f3n de la polarimetr\u00eda al an\u00e1lisis de la interacci\u00f3n entre las ondas electromagn\u00e9ticas y la vegetaci\u00f3n. Se ha aplicado una nueva t\u00e9cnica conocida como \u00abdescomposici\u00f3n polarim\u00e9trica\u00bb a datos de laboratorio en tres dominios: frecuencia, tiempo e im\u00e1genes radar de alta resoluci\u00f3n. con ello es posible identificar los mecanismos de dispersi\u00f3n presentes en el volumen ocupado por las plantas.  b- extracci\u00f3n de par\u00e1metros a partir de datos de radar:  1- estimaci\u00f3n de la forma y la orientaci\u00f3n de part\u00edculas elementales en un volumen homog\u00e9neo de vegetaci\u00f3n.  2- estimaci\u00f3n de la altura de las plantas mediante interferometr\u00eda radar polarim\u00e9trica.  esta tesis ha puesto de manifiesto que con el uso de la polarimetr\u00eda es posible abordar con garant\u00edas de \u00e9xito el proceso de estimaci\u00f3n de par\u00e1metros de vegetaci\u00f3n partiendo de datos medidos mediante radares. Como contribuci\u00f3n adicional se ha formulado, implementado y probado un nuevo algoritmo eficiente para la reconstruccion de im\u00e1genes radar tridimensionales en campo
