Estos genes est\u00e1n localizados  en un pl\u00e1smido y existen evidencias de transferencia horizontal de dichos genes nap entre diferente estirpes bacterianas. Los genes nanpabc son esenciales y los genes napkefd son necesarios para la reducci\u00f3n \u00f3ptima del nitrato in vivo. La nitrato reductasa peripl\u00e1smica es un d\u00edametro formado por una subunidad catal\u00edtica, codificada por el gen napa, y un citocromo c soluble,codificado por el gen napb, que recibe los electrones de la prote\u00edna napc, un citocromo c unido a la membrana. napk y nape son prote\u00ednas integrales de la membrana  que podr\u00edan facilitar la interacci\u00f3n de napc con una quinol oxidasa, mientras que napd y napf son prote\u00ednas solubles que se localizan en el citoplasma y podr\u00edan participar en el procesado y exportaci\u00f3n del complejo napab al periplasma. El p\u00e9ptido se\u00f1al con doble arginina dirige a las prote\u00ednas por la v\u00eda de secreci\u00f3n tat, que s\u00f3lo transporta holoprote\u00ednas plegadas. Este p\u00e9ptido se\u00f1al de la prote\u00edna napa no permite la exportaci\u00f3n de la fosfatasa alcalina debido a que no se forman los puentes disulfuros necesarios para el plegamiento correcto de la enzima en el ambiente reductor del citoplasma. Por el contrario, la prote\u00edna napa s\u00ed se transporta por esta v\u00eda tat porque adquiere sus cofactores ( un centro sulfof\u00e9rrico y un dinucle\u00f3tido de molibdopterina y guanina) en el citoplasma y se pliega sin necesidad de formaci\u00f3n de puentes disulfuros. El promotor nap es dependiente del factor general y se ha identificado el sitio de inicio de la transcripci\u00f3n del oper\u00f3n nap exacatamente a diez nucle\u00f3tidos de la caja-10 de uni\u00f3n de dicho factor sigma. El transcrito nap tiene un tama\u00f1o de 5,5 kb y presenta la m\u00e1xima expresi\u00f3n cuando las c\u00e9lulas se cultivan en condiciones heterotr\u00f3ficas, en<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
