Proporcionan cobertura global y permanente y por la precisi\u00f3n, exactitud y densidad de datos, las se\u00f1ales radio transmitidas pueden ser usadas para la representaci\u00f3n espacio-temporal de la atm\u00f3sfera.  la tecnolog\u00eda de los receptores gps ha evolucionado con una sorprendente rapidez, resultando en instrumentos con suficiente calidad de medida para ser utilizados en estudios geod\u00e9sicos, comparables a los resultados de t\u00e9cnicas como la interferometr\u00eda de muy larga base (vlbi), y estudios atmosf\u00e9ricos cuyos resultados pueden ser usados en meteorolog\u00eda.  en la tesis tomograf\u00eda atmosf\u00e9rica utilizando se\u00f1ales radio de sat\u00e9lites) no hemos centrado en el uso del sistema gps por disponer mayor cantidad y calidad de referencias y herramientas para el procesado de los datos. no obstante, se ha demostrado la posibilidad de extender el concepto a cualquier sistema de transmisi\u00f3n radio desde sat\u00e9lite como sondeador atmosf\u00e9rico. la estructura de la tesis se ha dividido en dos \u00e1reas: el procesado de datos gps para extraer informaci\u00f3n referente a los par\u00e1metros atmosf\u00e9ricos de inter\u00e9s, y la aplicaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas tomogr\u00e1ficas para la resoluci\u00f3n de problemas inversos. En particular, la tomograf\u00eda se ha aplicado a la ionosfera y la atm\u00f3sfera neutra. Ambos problemas tienen aplicaci\u00f3n de impacto socio-econ\u00f3mico:  a,- la monitorizaci\u00f3n del estado ionosf\u00e9rico es fundamental por las perturbaciones que la ionosfera provoca en las transmisiones radio que la atraviesan.  b,- la estimaci\u00f3n del contenido de vapor de agua de la troposfera es de utilidad en la predicci\u00f3n  meteorol\u00f3gica y clim\u00e1tica.  la tomograf\u00eda inosf\u00e9rica se empez\u00f3 a desarrollar usando \u00fanicamente datos de la red global igs.
