Se han implicado varias prote\u00ednas del virus de la polio como responsables de estos cambios. En el trabajo de la tesis doctoral se han expresado las prote\u00ednas del virus de la polio 2b, 2bc, 3a y un mutante de deleci\u00f3n de 2bc denominado 2bc128 emdiante la utilizaci\u00f3n de un clon infeccioso del virus sindbis. La expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna 2b y de la prote\u00edna 2bc y su mutante 2bc128, producen un incremento en la permeabilidad de la membrana plasm\u00e1tica. La expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna 3a, la prote\u00edna 2bc y su mutante 2bc128 produce defectos en el procesamiento, maduraci\u00f3n y transporte de glicoprote\u00ednas a lo largo de la ruta secretora hasta la membrana plasm\u00e1tica. El aumento de permeabilidad inducido por las prote\u00ednas 2b y2bc es inhibido espec\u00edficamente por el inhibidor de la ruta secretora brefeldina y no por otros inhibidores.
