Pkl12 representa el primer miembro de un nueva subfamilia de ser\/thr kinasas cracterizados en vertebrados.  el an\u00e1lisis de expresi\u00f3n del gen mpkl12 en distintos tejidos de rat\u00f3n y la expresi\u00f3n del gen y de la prote\u00edna mpkl12 en l\u00edneas celulares murinas, demustran que su expresi\u00f3n es pr\u00e1cticamente ubiuca.Se han generado antisueros de conejo capaces de detectar la proet\u00edna mpkl12 por t\u00e9cnicas de western blot, inmunofluorescencia indirecta e inmunoprecipitaci\u00f3n. Haciendo uso de dichos antisueros se ha determiando la localizaci\u00f3n subcelular de la prote\u00edna mpkl12 end\u00f3gena y sobreexpresada de forma ex\u00f3gena en fibroblastos de rat\u00f3n.  en este trabajo se presentan datos sobre la capacidad transformante de la prote\u00edna mpkl12 cuando se sobreexpresa en fibroblastos de rat\u00f3n nih3t, as\u00ed como las alteraciones producidas sobre contactos focales y fibras de estr\u00e9s de actina en estas c\u00e9lulas por las sobreexpresi\u00f3n de la kinasa. el posible papel de la prote\u00edna mpkl12 en las v\u00edas de control del citoesqueleto celular y la posible relaci\u00f3n entre sucapacidad transformante y el control del citoesqueleto son discutidas.  an\u00e1lisis de dos h\u00edbridos nos han permitido identificar dos prote\u00ednas que iteraccionan con mpkl12. Estas prote\u00ednas son la prote\u00edna mdrg1 (develpmentally regulate gtp-binding protein 1), una prote\u00edna caracterizada con anterioridad (sakuza et al., 1992a) y la prote\u00edna msip16 (stk16 interacting protein), una prote\u00edan no descrita anteriormente y sin similitud signficativa con ninguna prote\u00edna incluida en las bases de datos.
