Los or\u00edgenes del arte cibern\u00e9tico en espa\u00f1a se sit\u00faan con inusual precisi\u00f3n en la actividad desarrollada por el seminario de generaci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica de formas pl\u00e1sticas del centro de c\u00e1lculo de la universidad de Madrid, creado a instancias de ernesto garc\u00eda camarero en diciembre de 1968 y activo hasta la primavera de 1973, periodo que constituye el n\u00facleo del presenta trabajo. La experiencia art\u00edstica madrile\u00f1a no s\u00f3lo ofrece una importante deuda cient\u00edfica con los descubrimientos y teor\u00edas del matem\u00e1tico estadounidense norbert wiener en torno a la cibern\u00e9tica, sino que se inscribe plenamente en un contexto internacional, en la doble vertiente de la tendencia de conceder atenci\u00f3n a la m\u00e1quina como herramienta y al programa est\u00e9tico como producto art\u00edstico en s\u00ed mismo. Solo desde esta perspectiva puede tambi\u00e9n comprenderse la influencia ejercida en el grupo interdisciplinar madrile\u00f1o de los principales representantes de la est\u00e9tica cibern\u00e9tica, max bense y abraham moles. A pesar de ese car\u00e1cter interdisciplinar, patente en la presencia de artistas, matem\u00e1ticos, arquitectos y expertos en inform\u00e1tica en el grupo, hubo en \u00e9ste una preponderancia de las investigaciones en pintura, justificada tanto por la mayor participaci\u00f3n num\u00e9rica de pintores como por el inter\u00e9s que desde el principio despert\u00f3 la obra de barbadillo. El periodo m\u00e1s fruct\u00edfero correspondi\u00f3 a los dos primeros cursos, 1968-1970, en que el seminario estuvo dirigido por camarero, empezando a partir de entonces una muerte lenta por inanici\u00f3n y agotamiento, aunque no sin haber alcanzado sus principales objetivos.
