El transportador y+l es un intercambiador de aminoacidos asimetrico, solo permitiendo la salida de aminoacidos basicos. Asi se explica la reabsorcion renal de estos aminoacidos y la cistina.  -los transportadores b o,+ y y+l forman parte de una familia de transportadores heteromultimericos formados por una subunidad pesada (4f2hc, bat,) y una ligera (y+lat-1,lat-1,,,) que interaccionan a traves de un puente disulfuro.  -la mutacion l334r encontrada en un paciente espa\u00f1ol con lpi y la mutacion vi70m encontrada en un paciente judio con cistinuria de tipo no-i provocan un defecto en la funcion de las proteinas y+lat-1 y bo,+at, respectivamente .  -se ha identificado una nueva familia de transportadores lisosomales formada por lycat, lymat y mtp.
