El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la relaci\u00f3n existente entre la concentraci\u00f3n s\u00e9rica de stfr, y el metabolismo f\u00e9rrico en condiciones patol\u00f3gicas. Para ello se ha evaluado una serie de 172 pacientes con diversas enfermedades hematol\u00f3gicas, en quienes se realiz\u00f3 un examen hematim\u00e9trico completo, par\u00e1metros habituales del metabolismo del hierro, y estudiod e m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea.  los resultados demuestran que la concentraci\u00f3n s\u00e9rica de stfr aumenta en situaciones de deficiencia funiconal de hierro tanto en la ferropenia como en el bloqueo del metal en los macr\u00f3fagos, y tambi\u00e9n enla hiperplasia eritropoy\u00e9tica. Los niveles del par\u00e1metro descienden en la hipoplasia eritropoy\u00e9tica.  en pacientes con alteraciones patol\u00f3gicas en la maduraci\u00f3n de la serie roja, el comprotamiento del stfr no es afectado por estos factores en la misma maginitud que en el resto de los pacientes. Este marcador no se comporta como un reactante de fase agusa. El stfr no es un par\u00e1metro sensible ni espec\u00edfico para detectar la feropenia, porque no es un marcador del compartimento de dep\u00f3sito org\u00e1nico de hierro.  este par\u00e1metro puede ser utilizado como indicador de la deficiencia funcional de hierro, y tambi\u00e9n del grado de eritropoyesis . Pero si se utiliza como \u00edndice de deficiencia, se necesita conocer el grado de actividad eritropoy\u00e9tica del paciente. Y viceversa, su utilizaci\u00f3n como indicador de eritropoyesis, precisa el conocimiento del status f\u00e9rrico del individuo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
