Un modelo adecuado en el que estudiar los factores que influyen en la p\u00e9rdida de dicha capacidad lo constituye el col\u00edculo superior(cs).  en este trabajo se estudiaron los cambios que se producen en la organizaci\u00f3n de los campos terminales corticocoliculares visuales tras la desaferenciaci\u00f3n retiniana practicada en el conejo y la rata neonatos y tras la misma lesi\u00f3n practicada en la rata adulta. En los animales adultos control, los campos terminales corticocoliculares visuales estaban restringidos a una peque\u00f1a porci\u00f3n de la superficie colicular. La enucleaci\u00f3n neonatal daba lugar a una importante ampliaci\u00f3n de los campos terminales, indicativo de un proceso de crecimiento axonal. En los animales enucleados en edad adulta, sin embargo, no se produc\u00eda tal ampliaci\u00f3n aunque se observ\u00f3 un aumento en la densidad de botones terminales en las porciones mas dorsales del cs,probablemente debido a un proceso de sinaptog\u00e9nesis reactiva y\/o formaci\u00f3n de ramas colaterales cortas en dichas porciones. La inhibici\u00f3n de la actividad de la sintasa del \u00f3xido nitrico(nos) tras la enucleaci\u00f3n en el anmal adulto, permiti\u00f3 la restauraci\u00f3n de la capacidad de expansi\u00f3n poslesional de los campos corticocoliculares visuales lo que apunta al \u00f3xido nitrico(no) como factor crucial en la perdida de plasticidad durante el desarrollo postnatal.  la via retrospleniocolicular y sus modificaciones tras la enucleaci\u00f3n neonatal fueron tambien objet de estudio. En los animales adultos control, los campos terminales retrospleniocoliculares se originaban de todas las \u00e1reas retrospleniales y abarcaban gran parte de la extensi\u00f3n colicular. estos datos sugieren que la conexi\u00f3n retrosplenioculicular ejerce una fuerte influencia sobre la actividad del cs que podr\u00eda ser relevante para la modul<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos
