La prote\u00edna codificada pertenece a la familia m20 de metalocarboxipeptidasas, habiendose localizado residuos implicados en la uni\u00f3n del metal y en la actividad catal\u00edtica del enzima.  mediante extensi\u00f3n del cebador se identific\u00f3 el sitio de inicio de la transcripci\u00f3n para el gen cps1+, localizado en la posici\u00f3n -194, a partir del cual sugerimos que la secuencia que act\u00faa como caja tata en el promotor se sit\u00faa en la posici\u00f3n-367.  se ha estudiado la expresi\u00f3n del gen mediante an\u00e1lisis northern realizado en diferentes condiciones nutricionales y ambientales. Se ha comprobado que los niveles del arn mensajero correspondiente se elevan significativamente en presencia de fuentes de nitr\u00f3geno.
