Los resultados obtenidos muestran que tanto la melatonina como todas las kinurerinas evaluadas(excepto la codificada como 29c) inducen una inhibici\u00f3n de la frecuencia de descarga de las neuronas estriatales inducida por eecs y por la eyecci\u00f3n microintofor\u00e9tica de nmda en la superficie de tales neuronas. La melatonina y diversas kinureninas producen el efecto inhibidor con una latencia de alrededor de 2 min mientras que las aminokinureninas(codificadas como 26 a 26 c) producen el efecto con menos latencia que la melatonina y son m\u00e1s potentes que \u00e9sta. Por otra parte, la kinurenina 29c, a diferencia de todos los dem\u00e1s compuestos estudiados, produce una estimulaci\u00f3n de la frecuencia de descarga neuronal. La tesis doctoral estudia en segundo lugar el efecto de la metonina y las kinureninas sobre la actividad de la oxido n\u00edtrico sintasa neuronal(nnos), encontr\u00e1ndose que \u00fanicamente la melatonina y las aminokinureninas 26a y 26c inhiben la actividad de la nnos estrital. Dicha inhibici\u00f3n se produce de una produce de una forma no competitiva con la 1-arginina y parece debida a la capacidad de estos f\u00e1rmacos de unirse a la calmodulina, ya que la calmodulina revierte la actividad inhibitoria de la nnos de estos f\u00e1rmacos y tanto la melatonina como las aminokinureninas alteran la movilidad electrofor\u00e9tica de la
