El estudio propone una revision inicial de la evolucion grafica desde la edad media, desarrollando interesantes relaciones entre las tecnicas utilizadas en los portulanos y en la representacion del urbanismo medieval con respecto a los metodos desarrollados en el renacimiento para dibujar en planta la ciudad.  basada en una amplia documentacion inedita obtenida en diversos archivos espa\u00f1oles y extranjeros, la tesis obtiene interesantes conclusiones sobre los metodos de levantamiento, proponiendo la utilizacion conjunta de sistemas indirectos como la radiacion y de sistemas directos como la orientacion con brujula.  asi mismo, se aportan diversas teorias sobre las vistas urbanas del renacimiento, especialmente en lo referente a los metodos utilizados en su
