Hasta el momento solo se hab\u00edan hecho aproximacines a este pintor, por algunos murales \u00abtotalmente\u00bbrepintados. las conclusiones, por lo tanto, estaban basadas en una falsa visi\u00f3n de su pintura.  nuestra investigaci\u00f3n parte de los resultados de una restauraci\u00f3n capital para el estudio del muralismo en venezuela: las pinturas murales de la casa del gral. P\u00e1ez en Valencia. A partir de esos trabajos elaborados por nosotros, pudimos contatar la verdadera magnitud de la obra de castilla y se nos abri\u00f3 la posibilidad de estudiarla con mayor precisi\u00f3n.  esta tesis abarca la evoluci\u00f3n de la arquitectura venezolana, desde la cololonia hasta la \u00e9poca nacional(momento en que se declara la independencia con el reino de espa\u00f1a), para comprender el monumento \u00abcasa de p\u00e1ez\u00bb. De igual modo, se hace un recorrido por la evoluci\u00f3n de la pintura colonial, para culminar con el estudio de la pintura de pedro castillo. Cuestiones todas que se argumentan dentro de un contexto donde se refleja la vida, costumbres y modos de una sociedad que, del colonialismo, pas\u00f3 a ser independiente.  a su vez se analiza toda la obra conocida de castillo ubic\u00e1ndola cronol\u00f3gicamente adem\u00e1s de comprobar, mediante comparaciones formales y t\u00e9cnicas, distintas atribuciones.
