Esta tesis doctoral propone una aproximacion experimental no operativa al problema de la prediccion meteorol\u00f3gica a corto plazo con dos grandes caracteristicas: uso de las redes neuronales artificiales como elemento de procesamiento de la informacion, y utilizacion de datos procedentes de observaciones meteorologicas locales(un unico punto geogr\u00e1fico y una unica altitud). la estrategia elegida para la aplicaci\u00f3n de las redes neuronales artificiales fue la de sintesis de una funcion que relacionase los valores previos observados con los valores futuros. Un punto clave del trabajo lo constituye el intento de aplicar una aproximaci\u00f3n modular para la resolucion del problema, que se tradujo en el dise\u00f1o de cuatro experimentos. Dichos experimentos abarcan desde las configuraciones mas simples(formadas por una unica red neuronal),hasta la m\u00e1s complejas, constituidas por una jerarquia a dos niveles de redes neuronales en
