Berkeley aplica su teor\u00eda emotivista del lenguaje.  la teor\u00eda que afirma que el lenguaje no solamente expresa \u00abideas\u00bb, cosas o esencias, sino que adem\u00e1s se\u00f1ala emociones y otras disposiciones subjetivas de las personas a las proposiciones de la teolog\u00eda sobrenatural como \u00abel hombre est\u00e1 en gracia de dios\u00bb, \u00abdios es trino\u00bb, etc.  para este prop\u00f3sito la tesis estudia los antecedentes de esta defensa: el cuestionamiento por parte de john toland y anthony collins de la inteligibilidad del discurso religioso cristiano.  la hip\u00f3tesis sustentada en este trabajo consiste en que berkeley logra por medio del emotivismo, desarticular los argumentos de los libres pensadores (toland y collins).  para la verificaci\u00f3n de la hip\u00f3tesis mencionada primero se describi\u00f3 el contexto hist\u00f3rico de berkeley y los libre pensadores. Posteriormente se analizaron los sentidos y su uso de los t\u00e9rminos  \u00abmisterio\u00bb y \u00abfe\u00bb en los autores mencionados.  en el tercer cap\u00edtulo se discuti\u00f3 el sentido y alcance del emotivismo en la principal obra apolog\u00e9tica de berkeley: el alcifr\u00f3n.  el cap\u00edtulo cuarto revisa los inicios y origen de la teor\u00eda emotivista en otras obras de berkeley.  la tesis cierra con las respectivas conclusiones donde se se\u00f1alan los alcances y l\u00edmites de la respuesta berkeleyana: el car\u00e1cter emotivo del lenguaje
