El resultado se aplica fundamentalmente a la determinaci\u00f3n de la frecuencia de resonancia. El modelo fisico b\u00e1sico del resonador incluye un resorte, una masa y un amortiguador, correspondiendose con tres terminos respectivos en la impedancia. Los tres terminos se modelan y estudian mediante la comparaci\u00f3n con el sistema mec\u00e1nico equivalente; asi, los conceptos y tecnicas desarrollados en el analisis de un sistema mec\u00e1nico amortiguado de un solo grado de libertad se aplican al estudio del mecanismo de absorci\u00f3n del resonador. Por \u00faltimo se consideran las p\u00e9rdidas viscosas en la capa l\u00edmite y las perdidas por radiaci\u00f3n.  un posterior capitulo se dedica a estimar las propiedades acusticas de las aberturas a bajas frecuencias. Los resultados te\u00f3ricos estiman la respuesta ac\u00fastica de cierta variedad de aberturas con formas sencillas, incluyendo la rectangular, circular y bidimensional(ranuras).  se incluye un capitulo que describe de modo particular, cualitativa y cuantitativamente las relaciones entre las caracter\u00edsticas geom\u00e9tricas y la capacidad de absorci\u00f3n de los resonadores cuarto de onda.  se proporciona m\u00e1s tarde una teor\u00eda de mayor extensi\u00f3n para el c\u00e1lculo de la frecuencia de resonancia que tiene en cuenta los efectos del movimiento del aire en el interior y en el exterior del resonador, incluy\u00e9ndose las f\u00f3rmulas para algunas formas particulares.  por \u00faltimo, se discute el problema del dise\u00f1o del resonador para un m\u00e1ximo de
