Se observ\u00f3 una proporci\u00f3n de sexos de 1:1.26, favorable a las hembras. El periodo reproductor se extiende desde mayo hasta noviembre. La talla media de madurez sexual(l50) se alcanza en los machos a los 14.9 cm de longitud total y en las hembras a los 13.9 cm. La talla de maduraci\u00f3n masiva (l95)se alcanza a los 18.1 cm en machos y a los 17.9 cm en hembras. El n\u00famero de oocitos presentes en la g\u00f3nada por hembra fluct\u00faa entre 14071 y 91323, mientras que la fecundidad relativa varia entre 639 y 1170 oocitos\/g de peso eviscerado del pez. El di\u00e1metro de los oocitos oscil\u00f3 entre 0.30 y 0,73 mm.  se observ\u00f3 un cambio en el crecimiento de la cabeza a los 15 cm lt coincidiendo con el cambio en los habitos alimentarios y con la talla de primera madurez sexual. Stephanolepis hispidus es una especie omnivora con una dieta basada en erizos de mar, anfipodos, hidrozoos, moluscos y material vegetal. Se identificaron 5 especies de par\u00e1sitos: hysterothylacium aduncum, cucullanus sp.,Stephanostromum sp., Clavella alata y nerocila sp.. Stephanolepis hispidus se constituye  en un nuevo hospedero para los tipos larvarios iii y iv de h. Aduncum aduncum, al igual que para stephanostomum sp., Cucullanus sp., Clavella alata y nerocila sp..  los ejemplares de edad o presentaron una longitud media de 11.2 cm, 16.3 cm la clase de edad i, 19.9 cm la clase de edad ii y 21.7 cm la clase de edad iii. La longitud asint\u00f3tica(l   )definida para la especie fue 27.4 cm. El valor de k fue de 0.40 a\u00f1o-1. Los valores de c=0.15 y wp=0.19, indican estacionalidad del crecimiento. El periodo de minimo crecimiento se present\u00f3 hacia finales del invierno. La mayor parte de las capturas ejercidas en los puertos de gran canaria se efectuo sobre las clases de tallas entre 12 y 16 cm (77.53%)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
