Sin embargo, la mayor\u00eda de las prote\u00ednas que forman los complejos respiratorios est\u00e1n codificados en el genoma nuclear, por lo que la biog\u00e9nesis del sistema de fosforilaci\u00f3n oxidativa depende de la expresi\u00f3n coordinada de los dos sistemas gen\u00e9ticos; el mitocondrial y el nuclear. Los resultados obtenidos en esta tesis doctoral han puesto de manifiesto que determinados moduladores con capaces de actuar directamente a nivel mitocondrial determinando la puesta en marcha de mecanismos de autorregulaci\u00f3n que controlan la s\u00edntesis y expresi\u00f3n del dna mitocondrial. As\u00ed, mediante la utilizaci\u00f3n de un sistema in organello con mitocondrias aislados se ha comprobado que las hormonas tiroideas ejercen una modulaci\u00f3n diferencial de la raz\u00f3n mrna\/rrna mitocondrial, actuando directamente en la mitocondrial mediante selecci\u00f3n de los lugares de iniciaci\u00f3n de la transcripci\u00f3n de la cadena pesada. Este efecto no est\u00e1 mediado por el n\u00facleo.  el an\u00e1lisis del efecto de dos drogas antitumorales, la adriamicina y el cisplatino sobre la s\u00edntesis y expresi\u00f3n del dna mitocondrial, ha permitido comprobar que ambas drogas alteran de manera directa tanto la replicaci\u00f3n comola transcripci\u00f3n del dna en mitocondrias aisladas, sin producir alteraci\u00f3n de la actividad respiratoria mitocondrial. Adem\u00e1s, el cisplatino altera la estabilidad de los rrnas mitocondriales. Sin embargo, los efectos producidos por el cisplatino son menos acusados tras el tratamiento in vivo con este compuesto, lo que sugiere la existencia de alg\u00fan mecanismo de tipo compensador.  por \u00faltimo, el an\u00e1lisis en diversos \u00f3rganos y tejidos con actividades metab\u00f3licas variadas y, por tanto, con diferencias en las demandas energ\u00e9ticas celulares, ha puesto de
