Se identificaron dos exones iniciales alternativos (exones 1b1 y 1b2),cada uno de los cuales seune al ex\u00f3n 3 en los correspondientes transcritos ae2b1 y ae2b. El ex\u00f3n 1b1 es hom\u00f3logo a la variante \u00abb\u00bb descrita en rata. Codifica 3 amino\u00e1cidos iniciales (mtq) en la isoforma ae2b1, que reemplazan a los 17 aminoacidos iniciales (mtq) enla isoforma ae2b1 que reemplazan a los 17 amino\u00e1cidos (mssaprrpakgadsfct) de la forma completa de la proteina (ae2a). El ex\u00f3n 1b2 codifica 8 amino\u00e1cidos iniciales (mdfllrpq) en la isoforma ae2b2. Esta ultima isoforma no ha sido identificada en ninguna otra especie hasta el momento. La proporcion de estos transcritos ae2a, ae2b1 y ae2b, en celulas hepg2 fue determinada como 10:1:1, respectivamente.  el ex\u00f3n 1b1 tiene sitios de inicio multiples, mientras que el ex\u00f3n 1b2 presenta un sitio de inicio predominante. El analisis de las secuencias de las regiones promotoras alternativas mostr\u00f3 la presencia de numerosos motivos de uni\u00f3n de factores de transcripci\u00f3n abundantes en el h\u00edgado (hnf). ensayos duales de luciferasa demostraron la capacidad de estas regiones de activar la transcripci\u00f3n en celulas hepg2. El estudio semicuantitativo de la expresi\u00f3n de las tres isoformas en varios tejidos humanos (higado, estomago, recto,prostata,ri\u00f1on y tiroides) indico que los transcritos altrnativos se expresan en higado y ri\u00f1on, mientras que el transcrito ae2a se encontro en todos los tejidos estudiados.  en la regi\u00f3n promotora alternativa de ae2b, se ha identificado un polimorfismo c\/t en la posici\u00f3n -290b1, muy cerca en direccion 5\u00c2\u00bfde una caja gc con un motivo de uni\u00f3n a etf.
