Su misi\u00f3n dentro de la fisiolog\u00eda humana es la detenci\u00f3n del ciclo celular en fase g1, permitiendo la reparaci\u00f3n del dna ante cambios en el genoma, o induciendo la apoptosis si no fuera posible esta reparaci\u00f3n.  material y m\u00e9todos  se trata de un estudio retrospectivo en el cual se revisaron los informes anatomopatol\u00f3gicos de 1103 resecciones transuretales de tumor vesical (tv) realizadas en el servicio de urolog\u00eda del hospital miguel servet (zaragoza) entre los a\u00f1os 1987 a 1992. De ellos se seleccionaron para el estudio 67 tv superficiales de alto riesgo: 39 t1g3, 14 cis y 14 tvs con infiltraci\u00f3n de los vasos linf\u00e1ticos de la submucosa (l+).  la detecci\u00f3n de inmunofenotipo p53 se realiz\u00f3 mediante m\u00e9todos inmunohistoqu\u00edmicos, usando el anticuerpo monoclonal do-7.  resultados  * los tres grupos de tumores fueron homog\u00e9neos respecto a recurrencia tumoral (p=0,93), progresi\u00f3n (p=0,99), supervivencia libre de recidiva (p=0,92), supervivencia libre de progresi\u00f3n (p=0,99), tiempo de vejiga conservada (p=0,82) y respecto a supervivencia c\u00e1ncer-espec\u00edfica (p=0,79).  * se observ\u00f3 alguna recurrencia en 31 pacientes de 67 (46%).
