Dulce Nombre <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La endotelina (et) es un potente peptido vasoconstrictor aislado por primera vez del sobrenante de celulas endoteliales en cultivo. Los trabajos publicados en los ultimos a\u00f1os apoyan la idea de que la et es un peptido con diversas funciones, a parte de la reguladora del tono vascular. En la tesis hemos abordado la posible implicacion de la et en la patolog\u00eda del da\u00f1o glomerular independientemente de su efecto sobre la hemodinamica sintetica y renal. En conjunto, nuestros resultados sugieren que la et-1 podria estar implicada en la inflamacion y en el remodelamiento tisular. In vitro, la et-1 agrega los leucocitos polimorfonucleares, estimula la proliferacion de celulas mesangiales y la produccion de proteinas de matriz. La et-1 puede considerarse como otra citoquina de las que participan en el da\u00f1o glomerular. El efecto beneficioso de la administracion de un antagonista de los receptores de la et a ratas con nefritis podria tener implicaciones en el tratamiento de enfermedades renales humanas.
