Debido a las fuerzas termocapilares, para determinados valores de los parametros del sistema-diferencia de temperatura horizontal y altura de fluido-, el flujo b\u00e1sico primario se desestabiliza en forma de ondas hidrotermales. Estas ondas de temperatura afectan a todo el volumen de fluido y se propagan hacia la pared caliente formando un angulo con el gradiente de temperatura. Si se define un numero de marangoni local, basado en un gradiente de temperatura tomado en cada punto del fluido, se encuentra que las ondas aparecen cerca de la pared caliente cuando el valor de este numero supera cierto valor critico. Se analiza tambi\u00e9n la influencia que ejerce el tama\u00f1o finito del contenedor en el umbral y en las principales propiedades de las ondas. En particular, se observa que el confinamiento ocasiona un desplazamiento del umbral y que existe una dependencia del angulo de propagaci\u00f3n de las ondas en la direcci\u00f3n perpendicular del contenedor. La din\u00e1mica de las ondas en la direcci\u00f3n perpendicular al gradiente es descrita adecuadamente con un modelo de ecuaci\u00f3n de amplitud.
