Para ello se realizaron 6 campa\u00f1as oceanogr\u00e1ficas de 3-4 dias de duracion, con una secuencia temporal que cubre la variabilidad estacional. Cuatro campa\u00f1as se dedicaron a un muestreo de una radial costa-alta mar que cruza la zona de afloramiento-frente hasta entrar en aguas oligotr\u00f3ficas. las dos campa\u00f1as restantes comprend\u00edan un muestreo intensivo dela zona del frente. Como variables fisico-quimicas se obtuvieron perfiles verticales en continuo mediante un ctd(salinidad, temperatura, profundidad) y sondas adicionales(fluorescencia, ox\u00edgeno, par), as\u00ed como perfiles discretos de nutrientes (nitrato,nitrito, fosfato, silicato). Las variables biol\u00f3gicas comprend\u00edan clorofila(total y fraccionada en &gt;10  m,2-10  m y &lt;2  m), carbono y nitr\u00f3geno org\u00e1nico particulado, abundancia y volumen celular de fitoplancton analizado mediante citometr\u00eda de flujo(&lt;20  m) y an\u00e1lisis de imagen (&gt;20 m). El \u00e1rea de afloramiento mostraba una elevada variabilidad espacio-temporal, con desplazamientos del frente de aproximadamente 10 km hacia la costa o hacia alta mar en el transcurso de unas 50 horas. Los an\u00e1lisis de las condiciones nutritivas en el \u00e1rea de afloramiento y aguas adyacentes en t\u00e9rminos de sus concentraciones en el medio, su disponibilidad potencial y las relaciones entre ellos, sugieren que otro factor que los nutrientes regule el crecimento fitoplanct\u00f3nico en el \u00e1rea de afloramiento mientras que en aguas adyacentes se perfila el nitrato como factor regulador. Las c\u00e9lulas se mayor tama\u00f1o se asociaron a la zona de afloramiento, mientras que el picoplancton procariota(synechococcus y , especialmente, prochlorococcus) mostr\u00f3 mayor afinidad a aguas oligotr\u00f3ficas de origen atlantico.
