Sin embargo, en determinadas circunstancias, como la cirug\u00eda ocular (entre la que destaca la vitrectomia), estos sistemas de inactivaci\u00f3n pueden verse superados debido a la utilizaci\u00f3n de soluciones de irrigaci\u00f3n intraocular (sii) que incorporen sustancias con efecto antioxidante durante la vitrectom\u00eda parece muy \u00fatil  para disminuir el estr\u00e9s oxidativo tisular, causante de distintos problemas inherentes al acto quir\u00fargico, como el edema de c\u00f3rnea, la catarata o el edema de retina postquir\u00fargico.  entre los antioxidantes de mayor actividad  destaca el trip\u00e9ptido glutation (constituido por los amino\u00e1cidos glicina, ciste\u00edna y \u00e1cido glut\u00e1mico, frecuente en forma reducida-gsh) capaz de captar los r.L.O. Formados y de actur como cofactor de enzimas antioxidantes.Sin embargo, su utilizaci\u00f3n direct es dificil por su r\u00e1pida oxidaci\u00f3n, lo que ha determinado la necesidad de utilizar precursores del gsh, como la n-acetilcisteina (nac), f\u00e1rmaco de probada eficacia como antioxidante a nivel sistem\u00e1tico pero poco experimetnado a nivel ocular.  la inclusi\u00f3n de nac como oxidante enun sii experimental ha demostrado ser  tan \u00fatil como la soluci\u00f3n bss plus r (que incorpora glutationoxidado-gssg- y de reconocida capacidad antioxidante, por lo que frecuentemente se utiliza como sii de referencia) en la formaci\u00f3n de gsh a nivel de cristalino y retina, mostrando unos niveles de oxidaci\u00f3n tisular (medidas indirectamente por el derivado de lipoperoxidaci\u00f3n malondialdehido-mda) a nivel retiniano muy inferiores al bss plus r.  finalmente, el estudio de la actividad de las enzimas implicadas en la formaci\u00f3n del gsh a partir de
