En consecuencia, la microtopograf\u00eda del terreno influye en procesos como la capacidad de erosi\u00f3n y transporte por el agua de escorent\u00eda. de forma que la cuantificaci\u00f3n de la rugosidad juega un papel importante en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de los estados evolutivos inducidos por la din\u00e1mica erosiva.  esta tesis doctoral se centra en el esudio de las posibilidades que presenta la teor\u00eda fractal para la modelizaci\u00f3 y caractrizaci\u00f3n del microrrelieve del suelo. La estructura de la misma consta de:  1- revisi\u00f3n de la metodolog\u00eda com\u00fanmente utilizada para identificar estructuras fractales en series de datos de microrrelieve medidas con diferente resoluci\u00f3n vertical y horizontal y puesta a punto nuevos m\u00e9todos de evaluaci\u00f3n de los pr\u00e1metros fractales.  2- comprobaci\u00f3n de la utilidad de la aplicaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas de an\u00e1lisis fractal y comparaci\u00f3n de resultados obtenidos con el uso de otros m\u00e9todos de descripci\u00f3n de la rugosidad de la superficie de suelos cultivados.  3- discusi\u00f3n del uso potencial de modelos de comprotamiento fractal para el an\u00e1lisis del almacenamiento temporal de agua por la superficie del terreno y la evaluaci\u00f3n de la degradaci\u00f3n del microrrelieve por acci\u00f3n de la precipitaci\u00f3n.  la determinaci\u00f3n de la presencia o ausencia de caracter\u00edsticas fractales del microrrelieve se lleva a cabo mediante dos paroximaciones metodol\u00f3gicas diferenes. En primer lugar, se comparan entre s\u00ed diferentes modelos estructurales para el c\u00e1lculo de los \u00edndices fractales de superficies microtopogr\u00e1ficas te\u00f3ricas. En segundo lugar, se comparan datos experimentales de micrtoopograf\u00eda con los resultados proporcionados por diferntes modelos de descripci\u00f3n de la geometr\u00eda
