Con ellos se ha determinado la localizacion de estos epitopos en los microtubulos celulares en estado nativo, estando los localizados en el extremo amino terminal de ambas subunidades, ocluidos en el microtubulo, y expuestos los localizados en el extremo carboxilo terminal. La molecula de la tubulina tambien es diana de varios compuestos antitumorales. Concretamente se ha estudiado la accion de los nuevos compuestos antitumorales: ci980 (nsc 613862) y nsc 613863 (inhiben la despolimerizacion de los microtubulos) y de docetaxel (taxotere) y paclitaxel (taxol) (promueven la polimerizacion microtubular), en microtubulos de citoesqueletos de celulas ptk2 y en la inhibicion del ciclo celular de diferentes lineas celulares leucemicas humanas y de raton. El compuesto ci 980 es 16 veces mas potente que el compuesto nsc 613863, y el docetaxel es de 2 veces mas activo que el paclitaxel, encontrandose un nuevo receptor para estas drogas en
