Metodos: se aplico laser de diodo en ratas pigmentadas (long evans) empleando los siguientes par\u00e1metros de fotocoagulaci\u00f3n : 200 mw de intensidad, un tama\u00f1o de \u00abspot\u00bb de 75 um, y una duracci\u00f3n de 0,05 segundos para inducir nvsr. Para provocar un da\u00f1o del epitelio pigmentario de la retina (epr) se administr\u00f3 de manera endovenosa iodato s\u00f3dico en una dosis unica de 40 mg\/kg. En el grupo i solo se empleo fotocoagulacion laser. En el grupo ii, dos dias despues de la fotocoagulacion se administra iodato sodico. En el grupo iii, dos dias previos a la fotocoagulaci\u00f3n se administra el iodato sodico. En el grupo iv de manera inmediata a la fotocoagulacion se inyecta el iodato sodico. En el grupo iv de manera inmediata a la fotocoagulacion se inyecta el iodato sodico. En el grupo v solo se emplea iodato sodico. El seguimiento se realiza mediante retinografias y angiografias fluoresceinicas. Sacrificandose los animales para realizar microscopia optica.  resultados : en la tercera semana de seguimiento, en el grupo i, 42 de 93 impactos (45%) mostraban una fuga de constraste durante la angiografia. en el grupo ii estaba incrementado a un 61% (46 de 75 impactos) (p&lt; 0,05). en los grupos iii, iv y v no se desarroll\u00f3 nvsr. En las lesiones que mostraban fuga de contraste se confirm\u00f3 nvsr. Conclusiones: el laser de diodo es capaz de producir nvsr en la rata pigmentada. Cuando el epr es da\u00f1ado durante el proceso de reparacion, el efecto es incrementar la nvsr. Cuando el epr es da\u00f1ado previamente o en forma inmediata a la fotocoagulaci\u00f3n no se desarrolla nvsr.
