Para llevar a cabo este estudio, nos hemos centrado en analizar la variabilidad genetica y antigenica de la proteina g del vrs de cuarenta y un virus aislados en Madrid entre 1988-1993, de 8 virus historicos aislados en Madrid y en suecia entre 1974-1984; por ultimo, realizar un analisis estadistico con las secuencias del gen g, de los 23 virus mas representativos de este trabajo, junto con otras secuencias ya publicadas en nuestro y en otros laboratorios, procedentes de distintos ligares geograficos y de distintas epidemias con el fin de intentar definir el modo de evolucion del vrs.  se pudieron sacar las siguientes conclusiones:  &#8211; el modo de evolucion del virus se caracteriza por presentar varias lineas evolutivas cocirculantes dentro de la poblacion humana.  &#8211; vrs tiene una gran capacidad de diseminarse de un lugar a otro, lo cual sugiere que este sea un factor determinante de su evolucion.  &#8211; existe una gran correlacion entre los cambios geneticos y antigenicos encontrados en la proteina g del virus.  esto, junto con la acumulacion de cambios de amino-acidos en una region de la proteina g sugiere que la seleccion inmune sea otro factor que influya en la evolucion de vrs.  &#8211; la diversificacion de la proteina g de vrs es debida a la acumulacion con el tiempo de cambios sinonimos y no sinonimos. Parece ser que, a medida que las capas del virus presentan mayor distancia genetica al origen evolutivo, hay una cierta saturacion de las mutaciones no sinonimas, respecto de las
