El n\u00facleo de la tesis es un modelo de fisuraci\u00f3n difusa que complementa y extiende el modelo cl\u00e1sico de la fisura cohesiva.  se presenta un modelo que permite superar las limitaciones de la formulaci\u00f3n est\u00e1ndar de la fisura cohesiva a base de permitir que el material fuera de la fisura cohesiva principal pueda presentar fisuraci\u00f3n difusa (microfisuraci\u00f3n distribuida). El modelo es conceptualmente simple, est\u00e1 basado directamente en el modelo cohesivo y es formalmente id\u00e9ntico al de un material pl\u00e1stico con criterio de plastificaci\u00f3n de rankine y regla de flujo asociada.  como primera aplicaci\u00f3n, la tesis aborda el estudio de la influencia que sobre la respuesta mec\u00e1nica de las probetas del flexi\u00f3n en tres puntos (entalladas y sin entallar) y de compresi\u00f3n diametral tiene el considerar la existencia de fisuraci\u00f3n difusa fuera de la fisura principal.  los resultados obtenidos muestran que, para un intervalo grande de tama\u00f1os, el modelo desarrollado consigue eliminar la inconsistencia del modelo est\u00e1ndar. por tanto, en ning\u00fan punto del material se supera la resistencia a tracci\u00f3n. sin embargo los resultados tambi\u00e9n muestran que la influencia de la fisuraci\u00f3n difusa en la respuesta mec\u00e1nica es perceptible pero peque\u00f1a. En consecuencia, el m\u00e9todo est\u00e1ndar es aplicable dentro de las tolerancias admisibles en ingenier\u00eda, lo que representa una ventaja por el ahorro del tiempo de c\u00e1lculo.  como segunda aplicaci\u00f3n, se aborda el estudio de la influencia de la fisuraci\u00f3n prepico en probetas de flexi\u00f3n entres puntos con y sin entalla y en probetas de compresi\u00f3n diametral, para un amplio intervalo de tama\u00f1os.  los resultados muestran que la fisuraci\u00f3n prepico tiene una influencia m\u00ednima en las probetas entalladas.
