La optimizaci\u00f3n de esta tecnica de analisis aplicada al estudio del bacterioplancton ha sido un objetivo paralelo a la determinacion de los efectos de los tensioactivos sobre esta comunidad. Entre diversos fluorocromos estudiados, excitables con a=488 nm, se determin\u00f3 que syto 13(molecular probes, eugene, or) era el m\u00e1s eficiente en el marcaje de bacterioplancton. Se concluy\u00f3 que este fluorocromo discrimina subpoblaciones bacterianas en funcion de su contenido en adn y de su tama\u00f1o pero en sensible al aumento de actividad metabolica ya que marca tambien arn, aunque con emisi\u00f3n de fluorescencia menor, y porque su marcaje resulta favorecido en situaciones de division celular activa debido a la mejor accesibilidad de los acidos nucleicos a la uni\u00f3n del fluorocromo. Se han desarrollado adem\u00e1s, nuevos protocolos citom\u00e9tricos para la detecci\u00f3n y cuantificaci\u00f3n de nanoflagelados heter\u00f3trofos mediante citometria de flujo consiguiendose esta detecci\u00f3n en situaciones donde el cociente entre las concentraciones de bacterias y nanoflagelados era superior a 1000.  los estudios de exposici\u00f3n del bacterioplancton a tensioactivos revelaron que el tensioactivo ani\u00f3nico las provoca efectos nocivos sobre el bacterioplancton a partir de 2 mg\/l. La toxicidad de los diferentes hom\u00f3logos de las aument\u00f3 con la longitud de la cadea alquil, relacionandose directamente con la hidrofobicidad de la mol\u00e9cula. Los ritmos de biodegradaci\u00f3n variaron en funcion del origen del agua de mar incubada resultando determinante la existencia de una aclimataci\u00f3n previa a la presencia de las en el agua de mar.
