Para poder apoyar esta hip\u00f3tesis se utiliz\u00f3 un sistema de cocultivo de c\u00e9lulas endoteliales y c\u00e9lulas de m\u00fasculo liso vascular que permite un intercambio de factores entre ambos tipos celulares y a la vez el procesamiento independiente de cada uno de ellos.  los resultados muestran que las cmlv bajo una situaci\u00f3n de inflamaci\u00f3n, conseguida in vitro por la incubaci\u00f3n con il-1b, reducen la expresi\u00f3n de nose en las c\u00e9lulas endoteliales. Este efecto se produce a trav\u00e9s de un mecanismo dependiente al menos de \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico (no), que procede de la \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico sintasa inducible (nosi), y del factor de necrosis tumoral (tnf-(alfa)). Adem\u00e1s, se describe que un antiinflamatorio como la aspirina reduce la liberaci\u00f3n de no y tnf-(alfa) por las cmlv. De esta forma, la aspirina protege la expresi\u00f3n de nose por las c\u00e9lulas endoteliales. Todo ello sugiere una implicaci\u00f3n directa del m\u00fasculo liso vascular en la g\u00e9nesis de la disfunci\u00f3n endotelial de patolog\u00edas con componente inflamatorio. El nuevo mecanismo de actuaci\u00f3n de la aspirina que se describe en este trabajo podr\u00eda proteger al endotelio evitando, al menos en parte, la disfunci\u00f3n endotelial producida en
