Los resultados obtenidos indican que el transporte constitutivo de hexosas en levadura no implica la fosforilacion concomitante del azucar sustrato.  el estudio de las interacciones mutuas entre hexosas que pertenecen a cada una de las dos vias principales de metabolismo de azucares en saccharomyces por un lado, y el estudio de las interacciones entre diferentes hexosas y analogos no metabolizables de hexosas por otro, han permitido establecer que las primeras etapas de las vias inducible de galactosa y constitutiva de utilizacion de glucosa en saccharomyces cerevisiae estan funcionalmente relacionadas. Esta relacion funcional solo tiene lugar en celulas crecidas en galactosa o en mutantes de levadura que utilizan la galactosa de forma constitutiva y su aparicion esta bajo el control de los genes
