Lividans as\u00ed com de una orf (pauta de lectura abierta) de peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o que le precede y que podr\u00eda ser esencial para su funci\u00f3n en recombinaci\u00f3n y reparaci\u00f3n del adn. Para ello se asil\u00f3 y secuenci\u00f3 un fragmento portador de las dos orfs. El an\u00e1lisis y comparaci\u00f3n de dichas secuencias en bases de datos permiti\u00f3 establecer homolog\u00edas con genes equivalentes de otros microorganismos. Con el fin de demostrar la participaci\u00f3n del gen recr en fen\u00f3menos de reparaci\u00f3n y recombinaci\u00f3n, se procedi\u00f3 primeramente a la inactivaci\u00f3n del mismo mediante el tratameinto de la cepa mutada con metilmetanosulfonato y con radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta, agentes mutag\u00e9nicos que causan da\u00f1os en el adn, comprob\u00e1ndose de esta forma que la cepa mutada era m\u00e1s sensible a estos agentes que la cepa silvestre.  finalmente se realizaron experimentos de complementacion de la cepa recr,para lo que se procedi\u00f3 a la transformaci\u00f3n con pl\u00e1smidos integrativos en los que se clonaron los genes intactos procedentes tanto de la cepa silvestre como de e. Coli y b.
