En sustitucion de la heparina, se ha empleado el inositol hexasulfato, un compuesto de estructura quimica definida que la reemplaza desde el punto de vista estructural y biologico. Los resultados obtenidos indican que se produce un incremento considerable en la definicion de la estructura cuando el ch-afgf se une al inositol hexasulfato. El aumento de orden es especialmente se\u00f1alado en los residuos comprendidos entre las hebras 1 y 5, que engloban una de las regiones implicadas en la interaccion del fgf con su receptor celular
