En esta tesis se presenta un nuevo m\u00e9todo para extraer s\u00f3lo un conjunto peque\u00f1o de paradigmas a partir de un conjunto de ejemplos de entrenamiento. El otro gran problema de los sitemas de aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico basados en instancias es su dependencia de la medida usada para calcular la similaridad; se debe definir como manejar tanto datos simb\u00f3licos como num\u00e9ricos en la misma jforma y es necesario asumir la posibilidad de que haya atributos irrelevantes describiendo las instancias.  por estojunto con la colecci\u00f3nde los mejores ejemplos en el conjunto de entrenamiento (bets, el nombre del sistema que aqu\u00ed se porpone, es un acr\u00f3nimo de ingl\u00e9s best examples in training set) se proporciona el conjunto de atributos que describen los ejemplos representativos y que son relevantes a los efectos de clasificaci\u00f3n. El algoritmo bets calcula mapas autoorganizados de kohonen ligados a los conjuntos de entrenamiento para despu\u00e9s calcular la cobertura de cada nodo del mapa. Finalmente un procedimiento heur\u00edstico selecciona tanto los paradigmas como las dimensiones o atributos que deben ser considerados cuando se mida la similaridad en futuras tareas de
