Que los buques tengan su propio mantenimiento no quiere decir que sea el correcto, ya que, a veces, buscando beneficios escatimando en las operaciones de mantenimiento, no se consigue tal prop\u00f3sito, ya que una simple demora en la salida del buque, causa mayores gastos que la diferencia existente entre llevar un correcto a incorrecto mantenimiento. No se debe de olvidar el adagio que dice. \u00abEl mantenimiento cuesta, pero el no llevarlo o llevarlo mal cuesta m\u00e1s\u00bb.  al haberse desarrollado un avance espectacular en la tecnolog\u00eda naval, las m\u00e1quinas son m\u00e1s seguras y est\u00e1n mejor controladas, lo que requiere un cambio en el modo tradicional de llevar la conservaci\u00f3n de las mismas, todo lo cual conlleva, el necesitar menor tripulaci\u00f3n para su mantenimiento pero \u00e9sta deber\u00e1 estar mejor preparada y abastecida de instrumentaci\u00f3n adecuada.  el objeto de la tesis es hacer ver al naviero que, aunque al principio el mentenimiento parece caro, a la larga no lo es, ya que se evitan demoras, reparaciones y los seguros son m\u00e1s econ\u00f3micos debido al aumento de fiabilidad que le
