Los compuestos 16 acetilfuroescalarol (4), 18-epi-escalaradial (6), 12-epi-acetilescalarolida (8) y 19-dihidroescalaradial (11), junto con los norescalaranos norescalaral a (7), noroescalaral c (9) y noroescalaral b (10), son nuevos productos naturales cuyas estructuras se han  propuesto a partir de sus datos espectrosc\u00f3picos y, en algunos casos, correlaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica.  El escalarano 19-desoxiescalarina (3), se describe por pimera vez como producto natural.  el estudio qu\u00edmico de la esponja spongia agaraicina recolectada en la isla de tarifa, ha llevado al aislamiento de quince compuestos de naturaleza terp\u00e9nica, de ellos tres 9,11-secoesteroles. Los escalaranos 12,16-di-epi-12-o-desacetil-16-o-acetilfuroescalarol (18) y 16-epi-escalarolbutenolida (23), junto con los 9,11-secoesteroles 3-desacetilluffasterol b (25) t 3-o-desacetl-22,23-dihidros-24,28-deshidroluffasterol b(27), son nuevos productos naturales que han sido caracterizados mediante el estudio de sus datos espectrosc\u00f3picos y correlaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica en su caso.  procedentes de la gorgonia plexaurella grise recolectada en punta cana se han aislado y caracterizado ocho sesquiterpenos, dos nor-sesquiterpenos y trece esteroides polioxigenados.
