La s-adenosilmetionina descarboxilasa(samdc, e.C. 4.1.1.50) juega un papel clave dentro de esta ruta catalizando la producci\u00f3n de sam descarboxilada como mol\u00e9cula donadora de las unidades aminopropilo.  en el presente trabajo se han aislado y caracterizado dos cdnas que codifican para las samdc en pisum sativum y arabidopsis thaliana. En pisum sativum se realiz\u00f3 un estudio de su expresi\u00f3n durante los procesos de desarrollo fruto, donde se observa un incremento de su expresi\u00f3n se incrementa tambien durante la senescencia del ovario no polinizado de pisum sativum, as\u00ed como mediante estr\u00e9s oxidativo producido por una exposici\u00f3n prolongada a ozono.  en arabidopsis tambi\u00e9n se aislo y caracteriz\u00f3 un clon gen\u00f3mico del gen de la samdc. Los an\u00e1lisis realizados con plantas transg\u00e9nicas permiten acotar una regi\u00f3n promotora de 1 kilobase con dos regiones donde se localizan elementos reguladores.
