La potencia optica de salida asi obtenida se expresa mediante un desarrollo en serie de fourier, y por ello se le ha denominado metodo de fourier (mef). Dicho metodo se ha empleado de forma complementaria a los otros m\u00e9todos de dise\u00f1o, teor\u00eda de las autoim\u00e1genes tai y an\u00e1lisis modal am, en el desarrollo de un acoplador mmi 2&#215;2 3db y un fialtro modal mmi 1&#215;1.  se ha utilizado la tecnolog\u00eda de semiconductor iii-v, ingaasp\/inp, y el dise\u00f1o se ha orientado para su aplicaci\u00f3n en subsistemas pasivos de redes \u00f3pticas entorno a la longitud de onda,=1,55 micr\u00f3metros.  tambien se ha desarrollado un banco para la caracterizacion de circuitos opticos de gu\u00edonda y se utilizado para medir las p\u00e9rdidas de inserci\u00f3n de acopladores mmi 2&#215;2 3db mediante la t\u00e9cnica fabry-perot. El banco de caracterizaci\u00f3n es modular, flexible y tiene automatizada la captura y el procesado de im\u00e1genes de potencia optica recibida; asi como el control de la frente \u00f3ptica y el alineamiento. Las muestras caracterizadas fueron fabricadas en las salas limpias de telef\u00f3nica i+d. A partir de dichas muestras, se ha analizado en detalle la influencia de las guias de acceso bimodo en los acopladores mmi.  el metodo mef presenta la ventaja de aportar informaci\u00f3n al proceso de
