Cerevisiae cc45 dos copias diferentes del gen ilv5. Denominadas ilv5g e ilv5x. Ilv5g e ilv5x han sido caracterizados molecularmente. Se han aislado de cepas mutadas de s.  cerevisiae dos copias diferentes del gen ilv2, denominadas smr1a y smr1b, que confieren resistencia a sulfometuron. Los promotores de ilv5g e ilv5x se han sustituido por un promotor constitutivo y fuerte, el gen pgk. Las construcciones resultantes se han clonado y expresado en la levadura cervecera cc45 mediante plasmidos multicopia e integrativos.
