Esta familia de moluscos de aguas dulces y salobres es la m\u00e1s diversa morfologicamente y la que comprende el mayor n\u00famero conocido de taxones fosiles y actuales. Se conocen algunas regiones de clima templado en donde este grupo ha experimentado extraordinarios procesos de especializaci\u00f3n y diversificaci\u00f3n.  se presenta por primera vez en europa un estudio integral de un grupo de especies de la familia hydrobiidae combinando caracteres morfol\u00f3gicos, morfometricos y moleculares. Las t\u00e9cnicas empleadas en este estudio incluyen la microscopia optica y electronica de barrido, la histolog\u00eda, analisis estadisticos y la secuenciaci\u00f3n por el metodo de pcr de un fragmenteo del gen 16srarn mitocondrial. Se ha confirmado la existencia de 155 poblaciones de hibr\u00f3bidos de morfolog\u00eda mayoritariamente valvatiforme, as\u00ed como a existencia de diez generos y diecinueve especies delos cuales, seis son nuevos generos y once nuevas especies,lo que modifica notablemente la clasificaci\u00f3n propuesta anteriormente para la peninsula iberica. Se constata por primera vez la estrecha relaci\u00f3n filogenetica de la fauna de hidr\u00f3bidos ib\u00e9rica con la de toros pa\u00edses del \u00e1rea cicunmediterr\u00e1nea a trav\u00e9s de la descripci\u00f3n de varias especies de los g\u00e9neros islamia, arganiella y fissuira.
