A pesar de la gran diversidad gen\u00e9tica, los ciliados comparten caracteres celulares fundamentales que los distinguen claramente de los dem\u00e1s protistas.  los ciliados hipotricos es el grupo escogido como modelo de estudio de la actina ya que los datos bibliograficos indican que las pocas actinas de ciliados estudiados hasta la fecha muestran propiedades bioqu\u00edmicas peculiares y baja semejanza con las actinas convencionales.  las actinas de los ciliados hipotricos analizados muestran baja semejanza con las actinas convencionales. Las distintas actinas presentes en una especie tienen grandes diferencias en la secuencia de aminoacidos.  las regiones m\u00e1s divergentes de las actinas de ciliados hipotricos se localizan en los subdominios 2 y 4 y en la regi\u00f3n 3b del subdominio 3. Todas estas regiones se sit\u00faan en la zona periferica de la mol\u00e9cula y est\u00e1n constituidas mayoritariamente por amino\u00e1cidos hidrof\u00edlicos. En consonancia con esta conclusi\u00f3n, se ha detectado una diferencia notable en la distribuci\u00f3n de cargas superficiales entre la actina de h. Cavicola y la a-actina de conejo. los motivos de interacci\u00f3n actina-actinak y los de union a adnasa i, localizados en la superficie de la mol\u00e9cula, estan profundamente alterados en las actinas de hipotricos, lo que podr\u00eda afectar a las propiedades de polimerizaci\u00f3n de la mol\u00e9cula y a la capacidad de unir adnasa i.  las regiones internas hidrof\u00f3bicas son las mejor conservadas en la actina de hipotricos. Los sitios de uni\u00f3n a nucle\u00f3tido y a calcio, que se localizan en el n\u00facleo hidrof\u00f3bico de la mol\u00e9cula, son los motivos de interacci\u00f3n con ligandos m\u00e1s semejantes a las actinas convencionales.  la comparaci\u00f3n entre las estructuras proedio de la a-actina de conejo y la actina de h.
