Para ello se estructuro el trabajo en varios capitulos:  * espectroscopia infrarroja de yb3+: (mgo): linbo3: se tratan los a spectos de espectroscopia b\u00e1sica: esquema de niveles, caracteres, vida media, eficiencia cuantica, etc. Adem\u00e1s se realiza un estudio de la autoabsorci\u00f3n de la luminiscencia en un sistema a dos niveles, como es il ion yb3+ y se determina la importancia del acoplo electron-fonon en el sistema, a trav\u00e9s de la comparaci\u00f3n de los espectros opt\u00edcos con el espectro raman de linbo3.  * luminiscencia cooperativa: se identifica el proceso en el sistema yb3+; (mgo):linbo3. Posteriomente se realiza un estudio de la distribuci\u00f3n de los iones yb3+ en la matriz de linbo3 utilizando la luminiscencia cooperativa como sonda. Para ello se mide la dependencia de la probabilidad de desecitaci\u00f3n cooperativa en funci\u00f3n de la concentraci\u00f3n de yb y se proponen modelos simples (iones aislado y emparejados) que expliquen dicho comportamiento. a partir de aqu\u00ed se propone que una fracci\u00f3n no despreciable de los iones yb3+ se encuentran en posici\u00f3n de nb5+.  * oscilaci\u00f3n laser y autodobaldo en yb3+: mgo: linbo3: se presentan los primeros resutlados de oscilaci\u00f3n laser estable en el sistema. En particular, se obtiene acci\u00f3n laser a lo largo del eje c y en la direcci\u00f3n de ajuste de fases tipo i para 1060 nm. Se obtienen 58 mw de potencia de luz verde por autodoblado, se sintoniza la longitud de onda fundamental entre 1030 y 1070 nm y se obtiene acci\u00f3n laser bajo bombeo con diodo laser.  * oscilaci\u00f3n laser y autodoblado en yb3+;
