La cadena gen\u00f3mica se detect\u00f3 en 10\/56 (18%) de los sueros analizados, pero en ningun suero se encontr\u00f3 la cadena antigen\u00f3mica.  posteriormente se estudi\u00f3 la presencia de ambas cadenas en las muestras de h\u00edgado y cmsp de 7 de los pacientes con gbv-c arn en suero. Mientras que la cadena gen\u00f3mica estaba presente en todas estas muestras, la cadena antigen\u00f3mica solo se detecto en 6 de 7(85%) de las biopsias hepaticas.  demostrada la presencia de este virus en cmsp se estudi\u00f3 si estas celulas podian ser infectadas in vitro y si el gbv-c replicaba a esas condicoines. se incubaron cmsp de 4 donantes sanos con un suero gbv-c arn positivo. a las 4 horas post-incubaci\u00f3n se detect\u00f3 en las celulas la presencia de la cadena gen\u00f3mica, increment\u00e1ndose su concentraci\u00f3n durante la segunda y tercera semana de cultivo y permaneciendo detectable hasta el ultimo dia del mismo. La caena antigenomica se detect\u00f3 a partir del septimo dia, siendo sus titulos 10 veces menores que los de la cadena gen\u00f3mica. Por hibridaci\u00f3 in situ se observ\u00f3 que el gbv-c arn se localizaba en el citoplasma celular. Tambien se comprob\u00f3 que se liberaban el medio particulas virales completas. El analisis de las secuencias del gbv-c aisladas de los 4 cultivos de cmsp mostro que en todas ellas predominaba la misma secuencia, que era tambien la predominante en las cmsp del paciente cuyo suero fue utilizado como inoculo.  por \u00faltimo,al estudiar la composici\u00f3n de variantes del gbv-c aisladas en suero, higado y cmsp de 2 hepatopatas cronicos, que no habian recibido ningun
