Estas tecnicas nos han permitido localizar la heterocromatina constitutiva de esta especie y comprobar la importante heterogeneidad que presenta.  asimismo hemos determinado la base estructural del polimorfismo de la region organizadora del nucleolo asi como la base funcional de su variacion. Por primera vez en esta especie se han aislado y clonado secuencias monomericas de adn satelite. Concretamente hemos estudiado la secuencia, organizacion genomica y localizacion cromosomica de tres satelites resultado de la digestion del adn de la anguila con los enzimas de restriccion alui, hindiii y avai. Todos los analis citogeneticos y moleculares se realizaron en individuros muchos y hembras ncon el fin de determinar la existencia de posibles diferencias a nivel cromosomico o de adn altamente repetido entre los dos sexos.
