En este sentido se requiere de t\u00e9cnicas de an\u00e1lisis capaces de detectar los contaminantes de inter\u00e9s a niveles muchas veces de traza y ultratrazas.  las t\u00e9cnicas de espectrometr\u00eda de masas, tanto org\u00e1nica como inorg\u00e1nica, han sido utilizadas para el an\u00e1lisis de contaminantes en distintos sistemas ambientales.  en la presente tesis doctoral se utilizan estas t\u00e9cnicas (gc-ms con fuente de imapcto electr\u00f3nico) para la determinaci\u00f3n de compuestos org\u00e1nicos (n-alcanos y pahs) en aire. Se utiliza un sistema de muestreo que permite la captura de dichos contaminantes tanto en la fase paticulada. El acoplamiento gc-icp-ms se utiliza exitosamente para el an\u00e1lisis de compuestos organomet\u00e1licos de plomo en part\u00edculas atmosf\u00e9ricas.  una vez optimizados los par\u00e1metros instrumentales y de procesamiento de la muestra los l\u00edmites de detecci\u00f3n obtenidos (bajos fentogramos) permiten la determinaci\u00f3n de los compuestos organomet\u00e1licos de plomo en part\u00edculas atmosf\u00e9ricas muestreadas en el \u00e1rea de la facultad de qu\u00edmica de la unviersidad de oviedo. La puesta a punto de un m\u00e9todo para la determianci\u00f3n multielemental de metales en part\u00edculas atmosf\u00e9ricas mediante icp-ms permiti\u00f3 la comparaci\u00f3n de concentraciones de estos contaminantes atmosf\u00e9ricos en dos zonas: el \u00e1rea de la facultad de qu\u00edmica y la zona de san claudio, esta \u00faltima influenciada por una planta fundidora de materiales met\u00e1licos.  para la disoluci\u00f3n de las part\u00edculas se comparan dos m\u00e9todos; el asistido mediante ultrasonidos y la digesti\u00f3n mediante microondas. Los resultados obtenidos para las muestras reales indican una posible fuente de contaminaci\u00f3n de origen industrial para los elementos plomo, cadmio y zinc en el \u00e1rea de san claudio.  la
