Los m\u00e1s de 4.000 negativos que lo componen, constituyen una de las m\u00e1s importantes colecciones de fotograf\u00eda conservadas en arag\u00f3n. La mayor\u00eda de las im\u00e1genes guardan memoria documental de gran parte del patrimonio art\u00edstico y monumental aragon\u00e9s, en muchos casos ya desaparecido o sometido a sucesivas restauraciones que han modificado su fisionom\u00eda original. Por otra parte, dichos fondos fotogr\u00e1ficos, contienen excelentes ejemplos de la fotograf\u00eda industrial de la \u00e9poca.  la presente tesis doctoral trata del significado hist\u00f3rico y cultural de este repertorio fotogr\u00e1fico. La confrontaci\u00f3n de la historia de arag\u00f3n, nos ha permitido explicar qu\u00e9 papel jug\u00f3 esta herramienta, que procuraba por primera vez una imagen objetiva del mundo, en los siguientes aspectos de la vida aragonesa: en la evoluci\u00f3n del ideario regeneracionista burgu\u00e9s y en la formaci\u00f3n de una conciencia regional; en el desarrollo de los trabajos cient\u00edficos y de los estudios sobre la historia del arte y el patrimonio cultural aragon\u00e9s; en la formaci\u00f3n de nuevas disciplinas, como la etnolog\u00eda y el folklore; en el fomento del turismo y del excursionismo cient\u00edfico; en la revoluci\u00f3n  que experimentaron las artes pl\u00e1sticas tradicionales; en la apertura de la sensibilidad popular a los nuevos aspectos formales de la civilizaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica; o en la transformaci\u00f3n de los h\u00e1bitos, la percepci\u00f3n, la comunicaci\u00f3n y, en resumen, la vida cotidiana en las ciudades.  a modo de ap\u00e9ndice, se han tratado las aplicaciones que la confederaci\u00f3n hidrogr\u00e1fica del ebro (c.H.E.) Dio a la fotograf\u00eda.
